Just want to bounch this off others,

1980's house built in rural village, other houses in the village have PME supplies and test out with Ze of around 3.5. Did a quick test when I got there on a ring and getting Zs of 10.45 on further investigation theres no main earth so thought well is this TT if so no rod - can't be - main incomer comes out of the ground looks just like other PME supplies light grey 100A fuse box SWA going in - did the installer just miss the earth off? seems strange - 10mm Main Bonding all there.

The DNO have given you authorisation to play with their toys? If I were you I wouldn't mate, not without it in writing and I've got 30 years experience under my belt.

I find it quite amazing, that someone that is not sure, will happily involve themselves with equipment that is not theirs to play with!!

And when something goes terribly wrong, i'm sure the DNO isn't going to own up to authorising anyone to tamper with DNO equipment, if they actually did in the first place!!!

Ill clear this up a bit, I have spoken to the guys that installed the new supply and Western Power, the point of these new type boxes including the separate cutout is to allow the sparky to work on them without the intervention of DNO saving time and money, they have authorised me to work on it (as it is actually my supply), I will not be removing any of their seals, I'm 17th edition qualified with both testing and inspection qualifications, I have never seen this exact unit before (they even told me it was only the third they had fitted), I was simply asking advice to confirm what is apparent (I though that was what the idea of the forum). However if the primary intent of the forum is gossip and pretending to be an expert with no real advice, then perhaps I should go back to chatting and drinking coffee in my local supplier.....

Engineer54..... you clearly havent worked with supply's before, there is nothing to go wrong (unless your a complete numpty?)

If its a hybrid supply cable coming in and there is no seperate earth wire then its prob pme. If its a new supply fitted then it should have the loop reading on the crutch cover or a PME Sticker.. either and its pme. The dno should have knocked out the hole for the earth but they do not always . what colour is the service head.

Sparky, yeh I got the loop reading from them, they were a bit rushed (they'd been working silly hours with the weather we've been having) they overlooked knocking out the hole and cause I hadn't seen one of these specific units before, I assumed they had

Not sure how new these boxes are you're dealing with, but the ones I've dealt with have a hole drilled out above the grub screw (to the right of the fuse holder on the neutral bar) and a red plug pushed in to fill it. On the side a hole should have been drilled for the cable to enter, although that does get forgotten by the DNO.
