Call out by landlord to house, down stairs bedroom light pendants damaged:

Pendants replaced however no live at roses or switch

Lighting circuit:

1Gang 2 way dimmer: 1 cable 1mm T&E

2 Ceiling roses : 1 cable 1mm T&E at each rose

Continuity of Neutrals to both roses ok

Continuity of switch wire to both roses ok

Wiring method: joint box / choc box

Above the bedroom is a bathroom

The T&E has been plastered in!

What would you do to get a supply to the switch with out lifting up the bathroom floor,

Pendants damaged How ? also if these lights worked before they can be repaired also check that energy saving lamps have not been used with the dimmer switched and do you have a wander earth lead ? why you ask well it aint the first time I have found no earth at the switch so you may think there is no live but there could be I used a Kewtech plug adaptor with the wander earth lead plug it in to the nearest socket make sure you prove the earth is ok at the socket now reference your cables at the switches and also check the other light fittings on the same circuit in the house as the loop live could be disconnected

pendants damaged by tenant!

worked ok before

Energy saving lamps were used before dimmer tests ok

Earth at switch and roses

all other lights work

When you say the pendant is damaged, was it pulled from the ceiling or smashed totally, if it was pulled it could of put stress on a joint somewhere else and failed, have you got continuity through the circuit, bell it out and it should show itself

OK how are the lights wired is there a cable at each light and switch point ? suggesting a central joint box or is it a loop in loop out system at each light point ? or a conduit system if its a loop in or conduit system check the nearest light fitting to the the lights that are not working

joint box / choc box

all wiring bells out ok (neutrals , switch wires, and earth )

no +ve at switch feed

If you can get access to the central joint box you now need to test between the the joint box and DB also just because the breaker is on does not mean it is switching a live it is not the first time I have had this so bell out betwen these 2 points
