Call out by landlord to house, down stairs bedroom light pendants damaged:

Pendants replaced however no live at roses or switch

Lighting circuit:

1Gang 2 way dimmer: 1 cable 1mm T&E

2 Ceiling roses : 1 cable 1mm T&E at each rose

Continuity of Neutrals to both roses ok

Continuity of switch wire to both roses ok

Wiring method: joint box / choc box

Above the bedroom is a bathroom

The T&E has been plastered in!

What would you do to get a supply to the switch with out lifting up the bathroom floor,

But how a get a +ve to the switch without lifting the bathroom floor

Trunking & where to pick the live from?

If all the wiring bells out ok you just need access to the point prior to the switch, just a tad confused if everything is belled out fine are you saying there is i joint that is not accessible or do you have access to all cable ends and all the cores bell out fine?

As A1guvner says, The live has probably been pulled out of the connector terminal above the ceiling. If so, it is likely that other connections have, at best, also been stressed. Belling it out won't determine if the connections are still good, only that they are at least still touching. You are between a rock and 2 hard places.
1) Dig out the connector and damage the bathroom floor or the ceiling below.
2) rewire the lot in surface trunking
3) fudge a new live to the switch and never again get a peaceful night's sleep.
The landlord won't care about your conscience and probably has insurance so give him the choice of option 1 or 2

Believe me mate in Tenanted properties, especially the low rent / student let end you'd be surprised how they can Break them & another favourite is smashing smoke alarms off the ceiling.

In all seriousness, about two years ago, got a call to go to social housing to replace two smoke alarms. Got there and they were on the kitchen table, smashed to bits and cover in blood!

Turned out, The bloke came home so ****ed the night before, that he tried cooking toast, set the alarm off, couldn't work out how to hush them, and LITERALLY Ripped them off the ceiling! Lush!!

Guys great speculations and stories by the camp fire but what we need is a full description of the problem I am not having a pop but if another post like this comes along we realy need more information and I know that when you post a topic its not easy but we will get their either that or this will go into 5 pages and we will have forgotten what it was all about and one last point I am noticing is there is plenty of advice being given out but there is no final post on what was found or fixed

are all the Live Loop in connections tightened fully in affecteded areas? had this when "an engineer" was called out by a customer to replace a pendant and didn't tighten live loop properly causing 4 out of 5 rooms having no lights!!

i know its too simple but it does happened.
