Discuss Non continuous main bonding in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

GN8 ties up with the regs so i don't recall a direct passage mentioning this.I may be wrong here though
The Scammers push it without question.

If it's bugging you a drop of solder on the 951 will help you sleep easy.
Otherwise make sure it's nice and tight with the torque wrench or maintenance free connector , then take out an insurance with lloyds. then think of the earth bar in the d/b etc.

I had this argument with my scheme assessor many moons ago, he said code it so I asked why...............

Then there was silence as he looked through my copy of the regs............and no he could not find a reason for his comment and thus sulked for the rest of the visit whilst I was LOLing

On my assessment I was told a non continuous bonding conductor was a non conformance and was shown snags and solutions as "proof".
However BS7671 does not mention it and the guidance given in GN8 is that it should not must be continuous.

Are you a NICEIC man by any chance? lol

If a continuity tester says it continuous then it's going to do its job,

What is the reasoning behind unbroken?

Is it just a fail safe if it falls out the terminal you only loosing bonding to one point?

I believe the reasoning is that if you disconnect the bonding at the water then you would also disconnect the gas bonding (if it was run that way) and would therefore be more dangerous. The intent is to ensure as far as possible that a disruption to one service will not affect another service.
