So called accreditation bodies
They are all a scam not official bodies and all can be scammed to get in, they are only interested in income. (And who can get the biggest share)
Look at the money they have in reserve.
BS 7671
why isn’t this just published on line with and info accessed like any other data base.Referance books soooooooo yesterday(Kids tell me)
(Books available for those who don’t have computers)
Saving the planet, trees, ink, transport etc.
Saving the hard worked spark having to take update courses how to use the stupid, overcomplicated thing. (They even do guide to explain the first guide, then other sub guides to explain other bits)
(More pollution)
All so when they get them wrong and have to up date it every year, this could be done on line.
Saving the hard worked spark having to buy another expensive book, another course and throw the other one in the bin, (more pollution)
So you do an apprenticeship, take your city and guilds, get your Gold card, and spend the next 40 years carrying out all types of installations from inception to completion running jobs for large companies, public bodies, etc.
I have always tried to keep up with the job (dead easy now with the internet)
I am a member of one of the big 2 and have been for years, it used to be ok but over the years it has become very expensive and intrusive. I find the interrogation/assessment very stressful now.
It used to be 3 years now they have wangled it to 1 year or 18months (all at considerable cost)
They check that you have all the latest books, your paper work (same as last year)and that you haven’t become un safe in the time in-between.( The person taking out my assessment wasn’t born when I Started my own business)
If it was possible for me to make a mistake that caused real harm to anyone or thing (anyone can make a mistake) then nothing could prevent it.
If safety is so important.
Take the domestic supply down to 110v as in other countries.(The supply authorities are supplying a dangerous product)
What about the IPAF card have to renew every 3 years why (money)
Now the HSE have joined in £145 per hour if they find something wrong on site. (No motivation there then)
Lets start a campaign to fight back at these parasites.(I will run it if any bodies interested mail me if you are)
Rant over for now.

We need a rep. A rep that knows the trade. Knows the sectors. Knows where we all are. Knows where the industry is. Has a vision of the future. Can represent that and us. Cannot be bought. We all stand divided. We have no real say until if ever we unite.

Me I will give it a go (Retiring soon will need something to do)

I’ll run it!

The majority of the cash flow will be funnelled via other offshore affiliate companies to my account in Barbados. What’s left will keep my charitable fund going at the Foresters Inn.

and nothing will change while vested interests are sticking their corporate snouts in the money trough

What about a petition to our MPs exposing this unhappiness lets make waves.

Hahahahhahaa............there is this thing called 'E-petitions' where you can do this online.
If you get 100,000 signatures then it will be reviewed by a Parliamentary committee (or something).
You may as well p!ss in the fooking wind, they all get ignored.

Don't forget your local MP will only skin his knees jumping on your band wagon if it furthers HIS interests. Most (not all) seem to be pliable oily mealy-mouthed sickly condiscending populistic evasive tree dodging cracker suckers. Cannot for the life of me understand why the latest police commisioner elections were such a non-event...

this is it. once upon a time, holding a JIB card meant something. no need for all these scams. JIB approved meant that you were competent. now it's meaningless. you can hold a JIB gold card, and be deemed incompetent unless you pay £500 per annum ( plus calibration costs etc.) just to line the pockets of faceless suits.
and this `plus callibration costs`...lol...
the elecsa `assessor` that came to see me asked if my MFT was in callibration...
`course it was` I said......as he could callibrate it for me from the back of his car if it wasn`t...lol...lol..
so much for tempreture controlled conditions then...lol...

Other problem of course is that someone who did an apprenticeship and fully qualified 20 years ago could be completely out of date but still claim to be competent.

Only if they had been asleep for that 20 years

But then again in no more than 17 days they would be way more competent than a career changer taking the 17 day or 5 week option

They would have forgotten more than the 17 day/Electrical Trainee have ever learned. No-way would they be incompetent compared to a quickie coure DI. Just a quick 17th up-date would be all that is required... And that's only if they had been out of the industry.

If they have moved over and been involved more on the industrial maintenance side for the majority of that time, and now wanted to work for themselves in the domestic sector, probably just sitting the open book exam!! lol!!! Has anyone actually failed this 17th exam??

well when i took this `exam`...lol....this exam i asked if there had been folk failing it... the man informed me there had......
almost hard to believe isn`t it eng....lol...

Just as a laugh, a friend was visiting and I asked him to have a go at the online version of the exam. It took him ¾ of an hour and he got 80%. His trade? Gardener and odd jobs man.

could try the napit version of the 2391 - have as many goes as you can till you get them all right - yeah tough exam right up there with the cg 2391
