Old mem mcb type

Hi all, anybody come across these mem mcbs. Don't know what type they are. All it has on them is 3871 part 1. Apologies for the picture will upload a better one tommorow. cannot even find anything on Google or eBay.

The op did apologise for the blurry pic lol and said he will offer up a better one tomorrow, I think it will be hard to try and work it out until then.

Hmm. Fair point. I suppose it could be either. Who knows until the OP returns?

I am doing some remidials from an eicr. Some exceeded max zs readings on ring mains. But the engineer didn't put a type down and looks like has presumed that these are type 3

A better picture would be very helpful..
it looks like it could be a qeb or qb not sure...
Also looks like a wylex nb might do, which is the same as the old proteus range..
In the good old days before harmonisation circuit breakers were either BS3871 pt1 or pt2..
We now have 60898 and 60947-2 respectively.
types 1,2,3 and 4 were replaced with types b,c and d..
resistive, res' & inductive, inductive and high ind'..

Please Note..

Icn is marked as Mx.

The new MCBs to 60898 are suitable for isolation where as the older 3871s are unlikely to be suitable...

Ahh I see, so none of the MCBs manufactured that look the same were Type 1 or 3s?

I shall bow down to your superiority then........ Unfortunately I wasn't able to unblur the photo in the OP like you obviously managed to!

no what im saying is they are prity old have a look at 15th edition and see what types there was you might take an educated guess as you seem to know what your talking about generally type 2 was used unless a special install ie a motor circuit then i would of not commented cheers
