THE COMPLETED THIS STORY USING THE NAMES OF THE FOOTBALL TEAMS.
The sun shone BRIGHTON the day my sister, mother and myself set sail for the ORIENT in a very
old ship, its HULL already riddled with holes. Before we could board, the customs officer said he
must stamp our CARDIFF we were leaving the country.
The four CREWE members were Don, Mont, Kirk and Bart (who unfortunately couldn’t speak).
Not having been paid FORFAR too long, they were unhappy and on the second WEDNESDAY of
the voyage, they stole guns from the ARSENAL and mutinied.
Although they treated MOTHERWELL they didn’t like my sister at all and DONCASTER adrift on
a raft. I was terrified and hid in my cabin, keeping the BOLTON the door and hoping they would
not BRECHIN.
They raided the larder and found nothing but a smelly OLDHAM but they were so hungry that they
ate almost the FULHAM . Seeking to quench their thirsts, they forced open the drinks cabinet, and
finding that we did not STOCKPORT they drank whisky instead.
“Right” said Kirk, “I’ll climb the rigging to see if I can see land”. MONTROSE to stop him.
“Watch you don’t FALKIRK“, he cried, meanwhile the others had found some money. At this
moment the ship began to sink.
“Quickly, get DUMBARTON deck to give me a hand”, he shouted, and together they lifted their
LUTON to a raft. “The tide is lethal around here and carries ships onto the rocks and
WREXHAM “. With mother and me with them, they drifted for days before seeing an island. We
found a COVENTRY and paddled through the water to get ashore. The island appeared to be
uninhabited but someone had been there recently because a NEWCASTLE had been built to guard
the harbour. There had obviously been a fire as BLACKBURN marks were seen on the wall, and a
smell of smoke hung in the AYR.
“This WALSALL ruined by the fire”, said Don sadly, and it broke our HEARTS to see the disarray.
As we explored, we saw in the distance a tall, shiny building reflecting the sun, and at the
SOUTHEND of the island we found a deserted VILLA which had recently been lived in. We came
to a river and a waterwheel, and attached to the MILLWALL was a map. “There must be treasure”
Mont said, “but we don’t know whether it SUNDERLAND or in the river”. The map made clear
that the shiny building was the royal PALACE of the QUEEN OF THE SOUTH.
There were no bridges and we didn’t know WATFORD to cross. At a crossroads we knew neither
the direction NORWICH way to go. “I wonder where this road LEEDS ?” said Kirk, and although
we were tired, we PRESTON with our search.
The map showed a large area of grass with a huge ridge at one end. On this MEADOW BANK we
found a CHESTER treasure. It was easy to open as the chain securing it had only one LINCOLN.
As it was getting dark, we carried on, but we suddenly found ourselves falling into a deep, dark pit
with a BLACKPOOL of water at the bottom.
At this moment, I woke up!!! Alas, it had all been a terrible nightmare, caused, I think by
