What do you guys prefer to do if carrying out a ‘make safe job’ for example exposed conductors accessible to touch. Do you lock off (you may not be the person doing the work next) or do you disconnect the circuit and label what the problem is?

Lock off prove dead and leave dead until work is finished, issue P to W to Authorised Person doing the work ,trust me I have bad experiences when people don't follow the rule IT'S NOT WORTH IT BELIEVE ME, GOT THE SCARS TO REMIND ME.

If it can’t be easily disconnected, or on an important circuit, power off, WAGOS in a WAGO box, and power back on.

unless customer being a prat…. Then it’s the mcb lock off kit and keep the key.
lock off kits can be removed. remember , you have to allow for stupid.

Think we need more information as to who is actually responsible, what is your involvement etc....
Just the general consensus, carrying out maintenance or EICRs. I know it’s not practical to lock everything thing off. Isn’t locking off more for our own safety when carrying out the work and disconnecting is for when we are making safe part of or the whole circuit?

If you find something immediately dangerous you need to try and remove the danger if possible. In all cases you inform the responsible person and preferably in writing quoting concisely the issue. If you are going to isolate something then you will need their permission we are not the police. Nine times out of ten the risk can be removed even if the "fix" is not a permanent solution.
