Hi all,

I currently work in the offshore game but to be honest am fed up of spending months away from home. I am thinking about setting up as an electrician on my own self employed. I am already part way there as I completed my C&G2330 17th edition a few years ago. The plan would be for the duration of time I am home to slowly take on some sparky work and once I became busy enough to go self employed full time.

My question is what sort of money are you guys charging for your work and how do you price it? set hourly rates? call out rates? EICR rates? I want to be sure I can earn a decent wage..

Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you'll get guys on here discussing charges on a public forum. You'll find various threads on here about calculating overheads, working hours/year etc from which you'll see what you have to charge to achieve your minimum annual income.
Charges will also depend on the type of work you are doing i.e. Domestic/industrial/commercial and where in the UK you will be operating.
if you are thinking about giving up off shore for domestic, my advice would be, don't (unless you really, really can't cope with life anymore on the high seas!).
