As a electrician how do we stand when the outside meter box lid is broken - missing ?

Normally stand pointing and laughing.:dunce2:

Effectively the protection of the DNO's equipment is outside our remit and I have seen so many broken boxes that I am amazed there are not more problems.
Conversely the meter box is (meant to be) the property of the owner and so maintenance of their property should be down to them.
I would point it out to the customer and ask if they want it repaired.

As mentioned, the meter box is the responsibility of the home owner, we carry out light maintenance such as door locks and hinges, doors can be obtained from places like wicks,& the orange shed.

it's a nightmare best left alone. i had one. ordered a replacement lid for ÂŁ35 + carriage. would not fit. got back to manufacturer only to be told that the box was obsolete, no lid available. send new one back for refund. less of course the carriage each way @ ÂŁ8 a time, so client was not well pleased. ended up nailing a piece of ply over it ( council request as box was on public alley).

I'm surprised that the meter cupboards are the owners responsibility when it houses something that isn't even allowed to be tampered with.
Seen so many with no doors and doors handing off I am amazed no one has ever had more serious issues or morons killing themselves
