Hi
I have a Bosch double oven, approx 8 yrs old, which has developed an annoying fault.

About every 3 months, the heating element in the fan oven blows.
It doesn't just trip the C/U, it blows to an extent that the element itself snaps or furs up/melts.

The oven is connected correctly to a single 45A fuse on the C/U.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this ?

Thanks

Amazing how all these oven and washing machine repair men have had to go to uni and get their degree, who would have thought you needed a degree for fixing an tumble dryer, still same as the PAT lads and the fire alarms guys, all C.Engs and proud of it ...........................:ninja:

Sorry just in one of these moods, no work and flying tomorrow home .............................take no notice of me

Mate: Most of them have'nt even done Basic Electrical safety, never mind having a Degree. Believe me I know, I spent a lot of time clearing up after some of them. But with UK whitegoods they have some really good people on there who are in the Trade & have a List that the Public can check out.

No, not this Christmas, too much going on here. But i may get a good break Chinese New Year!!

Now, you don't REALLY think that i would take any notice whatsoever of these politically correct anoraks do you?? lol!! My answer to those that are in anyway offended by Christmas and what it stands for, would be ...if you don't like it, there are plenty of flights back to where you came from. (there only full coming in to UK, seats are neigh-on bloody empty on the return trip lol!!!) I'm dammed sure that NONE will take up that solution!!! lol!! :ninja:

It only happens in the UK mate. Today most of my local colleges here all wished me felicitations of the season, and this is one of the most strictest non Christian countries you can get.

Ok Christmas is nowhere to be seen, and certainly not celebrated but in private it is tolerated and everyone wishes you well, as it should be.

If the element's lasting 3 months I'm thinking it would rule out most of the usual reasons for failure such as wrong voltage, too high heat density tube for air, etc. Probably just poor quality hastelloy tube.

One other thought, is it possible that both elements (there are normally two) are actually failed and the one (replaced) element is being over taxed to try and maintain the oven temperature.
