And their pvc flex conduit comes pre wired, their MCB's are all D.P. sparkies work 9.00 to 12.30 then lunch untill 2pm then home at 4pm all for 20 euros an hour and dont try and phone them after 6!
and they flatly refuse to install anything the customer supplies!

Did a bit of research today.

Went in to B&Q no leaflets or signs near the previously mentioned Wylex Boards. Also no signs near showers.
I was approached by a guy while looking at the showers who asked did I need help.
First of all he tried to sell me a pumped shower, then we got on to electric.

I asked him could I install it my self (i claimed to have a limited PLUMBING knowledge)
I also said I had an old fuse box with those "bits of wire you have to do your self" (I know I even convinced my self!)
He said yes, "it's really easy, anyone with COMMON SENSE could install one"
I then asked for a leaflet, he duly had a look and could find a how to install a shower leaflet, but he did give me a nice bathroom brochure!

I then had the thought as I walked out the shop that I should have videoed it with my mobile phone.

I then went in to WICKES which is just over the road. Only leaflet I could find was an electrical safety leaflet, which to be fair to wickes gives advice on Part P and using a qualified electrician. It even has the schemes phone numbers on the back (including Elecsa, Napit, BSI)
I asked a lad about installing a shower myself he said he wasn't sure and I should seek advice from an electrician.
I thought about giving the lad praise, but then thought he might think I was mental (OK more mental than I am)

Focus and Homebase tomorrow..

I like where it says something like "We recommend you get an experienced electrician to make the final connection"

Who here is willing to energise a circuit when Mr DIY has run the cable and done the rest of the work themselves??????

i would make the connections for him providing he had every length of cable visible to man and he also signed an agreement that i was neither liable or responsible for any thing other than placing said cable in said hole and tightning with said screw driver..!! then i would charge him 434.75+costs so i could re-register with another scheme after been booted from mine!!

i'd charge him £300 to do the job...

...then i'd pay a kitchen fitter (with part p of course) £30 to sign it off

Job done!
