hi,new to the forum so please bear with me.i shall be attending a part p course shortly and was looking for ant advice regarding what books to get what parts to concentrate on ,to give me any chance of completing it successfully, cheers

It's only value is to a non spark, EG my gas fitter mate, a kitchen fitter or someone wanting to be a DI but we all know each other's opinions on the non spark playing with our electrickery.

I looked into the course when it first came out but realised it wasn't going to teach me anything I didn't already know so I spent a bit of the course fee on beer. curry and guitar strings. The rest I just wasted.

I bet the cost of this course would pay for a new low cost MFT, or a good part of a decent one. I bet it would cover the cost of a Ma leakage clamp tester or a few other bit's of useful test kit.

Notice i stated ''useful'', which this Part Pee cert can't put any claim too!! lol!!!

Any Part P course is really just a brief overview of the domestic electrical industry with a bit of building regs thrown in and is likely to follow the approved document P of the Building control regulations.
For anybody who has electrical experience and has either completed a recognized electrical apprentice style course would find any part P course of no particular use.

I remember back in the early 70s the quickest way to bypass getting an Engineering degree was to apply to the University of Bombay for the princely sum of 25 quid and they would send you a dazzling piece of oversized 'toilet' paper - not that this has anything to do with part P
