How do YOU view the Gold Card? End goal? Starting point?

Do you feel it's actually done anything for you in terms of learning/confidence?

What's your take on the dilution of the 'gold standard' now that we have 3 tests instead of the single AM2 of previous?

We're you able to use your own tools?

Did you feel thr equipment and parts provided were adequate?

Absolutley pointless. That's how I view it. Never had one, never been asked for one, never tried to get one, never will try to get one. As for the am2, I absolutley agree that passing it is where the learning really starts. Your on your own and have to think for yourself and that's when you really build your knowledge. Or sink.

I am as full fat as ever and getting fatter. All without the card

only need the card these days if you have not proved competence (industrial) or to get past the site gestapo on building sites. i never had one and done loads of industrial and commercial till became too knackered to keep up. now even too knackerd for domestic. just a few small jobs and testing left to me. maybe time to devote my time to annoying 'er indoors.
