I need to do some pat testing 2000+ items, in a hotel. any one know whats needed qualifiction wise? to satisfy insurance companies.
thanks

2377 C&G...a 1day course

It's pointless really as PAT testing isn't rocket science, everyone does it these days - but because you're doing it for an insurance company, if they're after any paperwork (which they probably willbe) then its the 2377.

they may require you to hold a formal qualification (if you could call it that..lol) such as the C&G 2377
i wouldn`t hold your breath though....
public liability to the tune of ÂŁ2,000,000 together with public indemnity might be a good idea though..

and dont be fooled by the notion that the c&g2377 is a level three course....trust me on this...IT ISN`T!!......

It's a waste of time that what it is

We were pretty much "certain" to get a contract with a massive hotel PAT testing, untill someone had undercut us last minute...

...in the mean time, i had enrolled myself on the 2377 thinking it may be wise to get it....turned up and i was the only one on it with some 70+ retired sparks that could only talk about his past career....it felt like a bloody date!

Most pointless course and biggest waste of ÂŁ300 ever. It is literally impossible to fail. rant over.

When I did my PAT training back in the early 90's it was done by the sales rep selling the machine, 10 minutes later there you go lads you know now how to PAT test !! Don't remember getting a C&G for it tho

Not sure how new the course is tbh sparkyphill, i had to sit a stupid online multiple-choice exam and that was it, was literally there an hour. ÂŁ300 for half a day out of work and a piece of paper, mint.

well if your rants over can i start mine please?...yes..ok well good...
its like this...i got to the training centre where they were doing this farce and couldn`t help but notice all the strange talking folk that had collected up there..
we were shown how to test...lol...
then came exam time....even the very words exam are a joke...about 8 mins..then i was gone...lol...

Same as me, exam didn't take any longer than 10mins - the other 50 like i said was having a cuppa with the old man talking of times gone by...

...the whole thing / course / joke, to put it as nicely as possible...was bent.

...thats how bad the 2377 is, and it still has 100x more meaning and relevance than the Electrical Trainee. Yes, i'll get sly digs in about the Electrical Trainee courses as often and as much as possible

Electrical Trainee are like one of those `stress relief dolls` you can get....where the arms and legs rip of them..lol..
just entertainment value for me...lol..
and why are pat testers refered to as `engineers`?...whats that for?

Haha, aye Engineer's and Specialists ive heard them been called.

Really have no idea, quite comical when you think about it, even wakefield prison inmates have the brain capacity to master PAT testing.

Personally it would annoy me having to use adaptors all the time. Can't you buy a proper UK one?
