As someone born it Glasgow thats ****!

Plenty of use will cheer on England as the Only British team in the World Cup.

As for being patriotic I cant fly my Red, White and Blue " Union Flag" for fear of my windows being caved in.

Us celtic nations have a strong sense of patriotism to our own countries
The English seem to have been left behind a little

Dont believe what you are told,that you are hated by the Welsh Scots and Irish
Only the Welsh Scots and Irish believe that fact

The problem with England is that it is bigger and has a larger population and acts as the big brother to the others
The Uk is refered to by the English as England when they are abroad,that is very insulting to the others.especially when foriegners then think the UK is England

By all means have your day,but a British day is out of the question,many like me, believe British is a past label that has less and less relevance to modern day nationality
Even the national anthom that was British is no longer any relevance to the others only England

On a more serious note the supposed hatred of the English

By Scots Welsh Irish etc etc

I have found is more of an inferiority complex on their behalf and usually more vehement from those that

have never or hardly left their own country and in reality have never really met any English apart from 1 -2

cliches . The Scots Welsh Irish who actually live in England have no problem with the English .


As for being English I am proud of Englands great achievements .

Patriotic England/Britain stopped when Labour adopted the red rose the TV presenters no longer wore a buttonhole to celebrate any of the Saints days as the wearing of the red rose for St Georges' day was seen to be favouring Labour and in order to show no favour to the other union countries the wearing of their saints flower was also stopped

Another thing Labour has meddled with

We used to celebrate Empire Day on the 21st May. Don't think there's much chance of them bringing that one back.

I lived out in Australia few years a go and they have a national day off on the Queens birthday if memory

serves me right .
