reminds me of a private hospital job i was on a while ago. joiner fitted a dado rail after the painter had finished the room. guess what? one of the few places he'd not used no nails was directly above a S/O. 3" nail straight through cable. thought painter was going to have a heart attack when we'd chased the cable out all the way up ( site commander quite rightly wouldn't allow a joint except it was above the ceiling ). poor painter had to redo the whole wall on a friday afternoon.

No cos this was a while back and he did get the new cu done. Amazingly. He told me that he did go down to b&q & got a cu and paid a local retired sparky to fit it for £20. That bit I still find hard to believe, even without testing and certs who would do it for £20????
