hi guys, done a periodic inspection today, obv you reccomend 17th edtion items to them change of db etc etc, but they will never change it.

todays inspection was tt system, with no time delay rcd, the only thing they had was a 30 ma rcd as main switch which controlled all 16 ways.

so therefore if there is a fault one circuit they lose the complete board.

so the 30ma main switch dont comply to 16th as there is no time delay and not 100a.

and now the 30ma rcd main switch dont comply to 17th because there is no discrimination.

i still thought tt systems had to have time delay tho.

whats your views on the above guys how would u go about it??

cheers.

Hi, 100ma was to provide a decent disconnection time.
Time delayed was there to stop nuisance tripping.

Where you have a 30ma rcd, this covers both the intention of the 100ma,
and the requirements of the 17th.

This is a very good situation but for the inconvenience part.
to overcome the problem, be it money, or, time, why not suggest a
3hr none maintained emergency light ? just a thought.

In my eyes, you would only need to code the lack of dual circuits ( 4 )
