Just wondered what people pet hates were whilst working. I'll start us off.

- Electricians who refer to rough wiring as "illegal"
- Plasterers who fill back boxes up with plaster and don't clean them out
- faulty back box lugs

Theres plenty more but I don't want to sound too miserable.

Wise monkey!

I promise I won't touch your burger if you let me have your gherkin [emoji12]

That sounds wrong on so many levels :puke:

People who modify panels and don't update the drawings. Nothing I love more than trying to trace control wiring at 5:30 on a Friday afternoon.

It's usually customers with us. They get some 3rd parts in to do extra work, which usually ends up with alterations to our equipment. Then don't tell us about it and the stuff hits the fan when we extend the press. Usually try and blame me but I'm wise and always state a full inspection should be carried out of existing equipment then adding to it.

Im new to the game so theres doubtless more to come but my top 3 is;

1) Twisted earths. Testing/tracing/extending a ring, 9/10 you break one, needing to restrip, not the biggest problem, unless...
2) Cropping your cable as close to the wall etc, as possible. I get it if it's chased, in containment etc, but copexed in a stud wall, leave some excess. Can't even count the amount of times someone has cut the cable to the backbox, then the client wants it moved 6 inches and suddenly you're having to rewire, usually in a finished fit out.
3) Air Con boys. Met a few decent lads, want to work with you, try to use the ceiling void space considerately but they seem few and far between. Usually the donkeys stick their ductwork as close to the grid as possible, often locking light fittings in place or covering first fixed spurs with 0 room to work on. Then the buggers usually ask for you to wire their units into the isolator /spur like you've got nout better to do!

Twisted solid core conductors, so called electricians who think they know it all, other trades who cover your work just because you weren't there when they were installing their kit Muppets, project leaders who think they know how to do the job better than you, just because they have been on the 17th update, I know but it's my real pet hate.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.!!!!!! :furious3::mad2:
