I have always been led to believe that thru crimps were not allowed on solid cores, only on stranded cables.
Thru crimps do look better but I use connectors on solid cores.

Thats a very good point, I was (probably wrongly) looking at it from a non domestic point of view. Is there any guidance on this, rather than just good practice/personal opinion?

who say,s you cant crimp solid cores ? check out through joints from pyrotenax they use uninsulated thro.crimps, uninsulated crimps seem to be made to a finer tollerence therefor are a better fit, just need a bit of heat shrink to finish

Yes, without a doubt, Wago's do it every time. Into a suitable enclosure with the required warning sticker. I believe you can get a Wago box with an internal DIN rail to mount the connectors.
