Evening all, got a couple of PIR's coming up on some commercial premises so two questions:

1. Is anyone using the EICR's yet?
and failing that
2. does anyone know the NIC reference for the periodic test and inspection forms for ordering as all I've got are domestic forms so I'll need to be ordering some.

Many thanks

BS 7671:2008 (2011) states that it's intended to come into effect on January 1st, 2012. Unlike some other releases of the IEE Wiring Regulations it does not state that either it or the previous edition can be used between whatever dates, so technically would it be correct to conduct an Electrical Installation Condition Report before 1st January, 2012?

The Regulations require that Certification and Reports be based upon the model forms.
To my mind that would suggest that you can design your own Certificates, Reports and Schedules, and that they should as a minimum require the the information required in the model forms.
For instance, the pre-amendment model form for a schedule of test results, only has one box to record operating times for RCDs, whereas the new amended forms have two boxes, one for 1x and the other for 5x. Similar to the pre-amendment NICEIC schedules of test results.
As long as the required information in the EICRs is at least that as for the current PIR model forms, I don't see it as a problem which version is used.

Ok cheers fellas, reckon I'll stick with the PIR's for now until I've got a better grasp on the ins and outs of the EICR's.

suppose january 2012 will mean i ncan no longer write my certs. on the back of a beer mat. bugger.

NAPIT have lost all credibility for me, all the other regulatory bodies were ready for the BS 7671 amendments to come into effect at the start of this year, as was I. NAPIT and their desktop software however, were not.

No electronic EICR forms, no apology, no service any more... I want my money back!

I have given them ample time to respond to my queries and have heard nothing.

It's the same old story, if you choose the “sales" option from the telephone menu your call gets answered within 5 rings, anything that involves technical support takes ages.

I used to be 100% behind this organisation... Well, not any more...

I think you'll find that the other scheme members have the same problems with their registration bodies.
I know the NICEIC are stating that the PIR forms will be acceptable until June this year.
