Hello,

Can placing a piece of cardboard over a PIR sensor for a light cause it to burn out? I have been told that the cause of the sensor failing is the piece of card that we placed over it for a while to stop it being turned on; but I simply cannot imagine that an infrared sensor would burn out because of a piece of card?

Could someone help me with this?
Ben

you have been strung a rope and it pulled u in!

why are you using cardboard to stop it activating? If it's to isolate (keep dead) this is very bad practise as some clown may remove said cardboard.

Isolate MCB or remove load live from PIR for your safety!

only thing - check max current/power as overloading will cause it to burn out. been there got the T-Shirt with a photocell. 6A through a 5A photocell
