did your friend have any idea what he was doing before he fitted the shower..............

Cheers for the posts guys, he had a plumber do it who fitted it. Is the 50mcb okay for the shower unit then would you say?

It may not be the shower unit itself. Could be the cable, get it checked out and tested properly, you can't take a chance with this I'm afraid.

If you wanted central heating installed, would you get a plasterer to sort it out or a plumber ?

The mistake you have made appears to be getting a job done, by someone who made it work, but doesn't understand the other 90% of the installation requirements

The solution is to now do what should have been done in the first place, find the correct trade to rectify the situation

Firstly i would point out this work is notifiable under part P , If it trips the MCB there is a possability that the shower may have been wired incorrectly , check all connections and that the right back box patress has been used 47mm especially in the switch as wiring 10mm into the switches can be a right pain ,, but if in doubt call a spark

As said Part P notifiable work

LABC find out its £5000 fine plus £50 a day whilst the misdamenour is in place if my memory serves me right:eek:

Has the cable been trapped when screwing the shower to the wall.

A local Plumber was fined £4550 3 years ago for fitting an Electric shower, he fell out with the customer and she notified building control. He was gutted. I gained another customer as he was doing a bathroom roughly every 3 weeks.
