Right I have asked this before but for some reason it seemed to fall on deaf ears, so here goes!!

The Trainee section as you know is a part of the forum dedicated to Trainees, who are currently doing courses as part of the path to becoming qualified Electricians, so this whole section is your baby so to speak.

I have always tried to share the work load in here via competitions etc with Paul but as you may or not know he has asked me to take over as much as I can in running it.
So I think we need to get this place as busy as it was a year ago, it was constantly buzzing we were running weekly or monthly competitions with Prizes provided by the Mentors out of their own money sometimes, we had sunday night prize draws which were good fun and always saw the place busy!! It was like Sunday night at the Palladium some weeks :D

I want it to get back to those days if I can with the help of you guys and the mentors, So basically I want all the trainees to start thinking about what they want from the TS, do you want more comps and questions, do you want more electrical Diagrams in here, More course advice, The list is endless.

All I ask is you make the effort to read this post and try to reply, even if it is to say you are happy with it as is, although I think we need more activity on a regular basis.

Thanks for reading Guys!
@ Mentors and Staff I will post up elsewhere for us so we can discuss what we can do in private.

All the best GMES

Thanks mate, my knowledge of the modern courses is somewhat scant, as you can imagine at my age, still willing to help the Trainees in any way I can.
I know it's a pet hate of mine, but perhaps you could suggest to the Trainees to provide more information, i,e, how old they are, what sort of work they are involved in etc, I have donated much of my collection of books, tools etc to some of the trainees already, but would be prepared to fork out for a moderate prize every now an then. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks pete I know you have donated in the past and it is appreciated, Re the courses I agree it can be tough keeping up with all the latest ones, But maybe if you could come up with some scenarios either from experience or just made up to test the trainees, at the end of the day it can as easy or hard as you want, just a thought!!!
I may create a list in here and everytime someone comes up with an idea I will add it.
Cheers again mate.

I'm happy to help. :) I'm a bit "poacher turned gamekeeper" as I now teach 2365 level 2 and 3, and 17th edition (2382-15). I might have some bits n bobs I can donate, and I can certainly think up scenarios for quizes etc. :)

Cheers Steve,
Thanks for the offer and Re the Scenarios please feel free to start a thread whenever you're ready in the TS and let's see what answers we get.

That's really kind of you Lee, I have started a thread in the Arms for all Mentors to discuss ideas away from prying eyes lol.

No Drama Lee.

sounds exciting. for me, these modern courses can mean that you maybe miss out on some learning that you might get from an apprentiship where you constantly have a mentor helping to educate you, putting you in new situations to improve your knowledge and experience, so a place in here where ideas can get thrown about and discussed is great.

especially with regards to setting trainee questions.. prizes and the like don't bother me at all, but anyone willing to give up a bit of time to think about a learning exercise for us and help us through it would be excellent!

admittedly i don't post everytime i have a question, mainly because i just like to be able to research and work things out myself (as i think a competent electrician generally should be able to!), but i keep thinking up situations where it'd be good to get guidance from those with experience and might be of interest to other trainees so i'm gonna start getting more involved.

cheers to all the contributors!

I'm an on off visitor to the page, (hold my hand up) but so far found loads of useful info. I've just come across the scenerio question and thought that was a great idea, competitions sound great too. Will frequent more for sure

@GMES. I'll help out in any way I can in the TS. What would you like to do next mate? Maybe start up a little comp?

Hey up Paul, sorry mate I have only just seen your post, we are open to suggestions pal if I'm honest.
