Hi guys, could you please take a moment to review the electrician's work on my flat and leave a comment as to its quality.

Switches and sockets were placed in various strange positions without my agreement. He has moved them where required but they're still not 100% and are not centered and measured properly on the walls.

We had agreed that all wires would be chased into the brickwork inside plastic conduit. I am disappointed to see so much raw cable buried within the plaster without conduit.

Thanks for your input,

Currently doing a full rewire on a house and checked with BC prior to starting if they would accept sign off by Napit or Niceic member their response "as long as it is compliant to the Regs and is inspected by the QS at every stage of the works, then proceed". Apologies if you think I wasted your time.

my own thoughts on rectifying that mess will not be good news, i would reasonably assume that nothing that bob the bodger has touched will be safe and hence everything would be ripped out and start from scratch,i would even be reluctant to put a new backplate in a chase he has chopped in pmsl ...thats why i doubt a proper electrician will entertain it and if you go for the cheaper option again you will probably end up right back where you are now...looking for a real electrician to fix a mess.
this would be my standard approach to it n all....

Cool, calm and collected is the way to go, if you can get a response from the scheme provider this will help.

If you cannot then you need to explain to the installer that you are not confident in the work quality and you feel that this is not installed to a quality at which you would be prepared to pay for and so the contract between you is cancelled and no money is owed.

Then you would need to discuss with another electrician the remedial works required, a competent electrician should be able to sort this if the install is in the state indicated in your pictures.

Good luck and remember remain calm at all times.

How much of the plastering has been completed ? Seems to me that the 'moved' socket has photos before and after plaster.

maybe its worth paying for an independent electrical installation condition report to confirm what i suspect will be unsafe wiring and consequently an unsafe installation ,thus giving you a starting point from which to pursue retribution via rectification and renumeration.?

sage advice though difficult being homeless. ive been sleeping in the office, at hostels, mates sofas... god damn nightmare this is.
well then the sooner you can get someone in....who will be able to liase with you as for your requirements....and be able to carry out the work in a professional manner.....the sooner you can get the dry liners in cant you....

yeah i complained about the socket and they tried covering it up with plaster. did the pipes in the process that weren't wrapped in insulating tape so now they all need to come out.

plastering upstairs is mostly done but now that all the cables need to come out, it's not very done, is it?

the issue as far as were concerned on this forum is the proximity of cables to them pipes....
it just doesn`t comply....

First port of call is to the NICEIC, explain your concerns with sample photo's etc and request them to conduct a site visit. They can't fail to condemn such an installation, and it's debatable what they will do, if anything. But if you have something in writing from them, confirming that the installation as it stands is not to acceptable practices, then your claim against the electrician is very much enhanced. Then any money putting the electrical installation right, can be claimed against any monies due to the electrician.

I hope you have learnt your lesson too, being a member of a part pee scheme provider is no Guarantee that an electrician is in fact competent. You'll find that most these day's, are 5 week wonders, meaning that they have had only 5 weeks training!! Believe it or not, it's the Truth!!! Always best to try and get a recommendation from trusted friends or relatives etc when sourcing a qualified and experienced electrician....

i doubt if this turnip has even had 5 weeks training though eng....lol...
he may have wired up the odd plug or 3 in his time though....lol...lol..

The worrying point for me, is that the NICEIC Certificate posted by the OP lists this guy as an ''Approved Contractor''!! If that's the case what chance does this industry stand?? Unless of course that Cert, is a fake!!
