Hi all - I am looking for some guidance around the MET for a PME installation. I am doing my first new build, which has had the supply installed, including meter and 100amp switch, however there is no earth wire provided?

Is it the suppliers responsibility to supply the earth to a MET, or is it my job?

Regards

Ant

It is yours.
Think about it, where would they connect the earth conductor to if there wasnt any installation there?
Are you sure it is PME/TN-C-S, and not been left as a TT?

It should be their responsibility. Do you know that's its PME for definite. Try calling the DNO and asking what the earthing arrangement should be. It may be a TT (but I doubt it)

Thanks for the replies guys, and yes it's definetly a PME supply as it has a sticker on the cut out stating so.

Thanks

Why should the DNO supply the earthing conductor?
They have (presumably) supplied a means of connecting to their earth point, via their PME cut-out, do they have to supply the cable onwards to the MET/CU?

Were your tails and earthing conductor there ready for them to connect? If not then that is why they didn't connect them!

Have they opened the hole in the front and side of the cutout for you to connect to? If so use that terminal.

If no terminal is available to connect to then you will just have to get them back to connect.

I assume they've fitted a self connect meter?

Is the supply live at the moment?
They may have just installed the service head and be waiting for your inspection and testing to confirm that they can liven the supply and fit the earthing.
Any connection to the service head should be the DNOs responsibility, though they may ask you to supply the cable!

Thanks to all for the comments, and happy to say have solved the problem today. There is a red plug ( see pics attached) to right of the cut out, which pops out to reveal two Allen key screws. At the side of the cut out there are two little white plugs which again pop out, and this gives you the entry point for the CPC.
Got all this info from one of the DNO's engineers, really helpful.
