Hi all - I am looking for some guidance around the MET for a PME installation. I am doing my first new build, which has had the supply installed, including meter and 100amp switch, however there is no earth wire provided?

Is it the suppliers responsibility to supply the earth to a MET, or is it my job?

Regards

Ant

And the point about the earth block in the picture being the MET is quite correct, and the bonding will have to connect there and not in the CU.

In the picture the head is the means of earthing, the green/yellow cable is the earthing conductor and then the block is the MET.
The green/yellow cable which will run from that MET to the CU is a CPC.

No way i would be taking main bonding and CU earth conductors to that MET in what looks to be an external located cabinet. I'd mount a EMT at the CU location within the property and take a single conductor from that EMT to the MET, exactly as you described for the outbuilding!! lol!!

surely you or I would have put a longer earthing conductor in and put the MET inside anyway!

Either way really, but having an easy means of disconnecting the earthing conductor for testing purposes without having to muck around with the service cut-out N-E connection is i feel preferable. Especially with all these so-called less than competent DI's that are swamping the industry!! lol!!

They are competent according to the NICEIC. It must be true if they say so.:biggrinjester:
