Subtract the vat (Price includes VAT) and its ~ 0.33.5 per test. Less travel expenses/ time, insurance, labels and time to generate documentation = waste of time.

I would not say a waste of time I would say the numbers do not stack up so is it legal to advertise this for 40p when they will not acheive this a bit like a printer who says 5p a copy but only after you get 1500 copies at 20p each in this case we are geting like the US were the price advertised does not reflect the true cost

Try buying anything online - most of the time you think you're getting a good deal but then you get to the checkout and the postage and packing fee doubles the overall cost; the shop you thought was the most expensive turns out to be the cheapest because their p&p is free.
I think the solution is if people aren't afraid to go almost all the way through a transaction then cancel at the last minute when the additional charges are put on.

I have a tool that saves a lot of time and money when it comes to "PAT" testing, I call it "the wife"! I caught on to this a while ago when I had a lot to do. She gets all the information, I do the tests, she does the certificate and all the stickers. Its so much quicker and it doesn't cost me anything! Well I have to try and think up some original compliments and try to make them sound sincere then she's eating out of my hand. Have you done something different with your hair today because you look amazing? No? Oh by the way I might be back late tomorrow as I've got loads of PAT testing to do. . . . . . .
(Insert Sid James laugh!)

Don't exchange or upgrade for a newer model otherwise you'll know exactly how much the surcharge for her efforts will be....

I tend towards £2.50 - £4.16 per item but aim for a flat £5.00 per item. Needless to say I don't get that much PAT, thank goodness!

I have a company doing its rounds by me at the minute, 60p a test. Many are taking it up but have just had 6 sites come to me after originally going with them but losing faith with them. I spoke to 1 site that had them and they did 320 tests in 1 day, 1 person = need I say more. I just hope they dont get caught out by them and something bad happens. I try and keep a far price but would never go below £1.00 and charge a minimum fee for less items. I just wouldnt make a wage at them prices, but at least I can go home at the end of the day knowing the job has been done right.

i think most people who charge 50 per item are only sticking on stickers, not testing, hard to do 10 per hour in an office, amongst all the **** and knots
