PF = cos(tan[SUP]-1[/SUP](kVAR/kW))

or...

PF = kW/(sqrt(kW[SUP]2[/SUP] + kVAR[SUP]2[/SUP]))

Pythagorus. You know the opposite (kVAr), you know the adjacent (kW) so you can work out the hypotenuse (apparent power). True power divided by apparent power = pf expressed as a decimal.
Different way of expressing the above post, just the way that I look at it as I can go blank when faced with inverse of tangents etc, especially when it is sunny!
