Anybody successfully managed to use a box of Prysmian T&E boxed cable? They don't tape the end of the cable to the outside of the box so you have to fish for it which usually ends up destroying the box. Anybody know how to do it?

No mate, get a couple of sizes of croc clips & just use them to clip the cut end of your cable to the roll, lay the rolls flat in the van & rarely have unravelled cable. Takes seconds and works well.

I find the folding cable holder (with the croc clips) a bit unwieldy so only get it out when I need to pull multiple cables.
Anyone know off a good single drum cable holder? (or suggestions for a good design when I get time to put one together)

To get the cable out of prysmian boxes:

Get finger/snipe nose pliers into box and rotate the drum to find the end. Fail a few times. Sit and have cup of tea (essential step, don't skip!). Try again and rip the box a little. Give up and undo sellotape lid. Get end out. Pull 5m and wait for drum to jam. Cup of tea. Yank on cable and rip box. Pull cable off drum and wrap it round yourself to make a catwalk style designer dress. Set fire to box and drum (make sure you get hot works permit first!). Go buy a proper drum of cable and some cable racks. Weigh in prysmian dress while crying at the loss of cash. Have cup of tea and rethink your life.

I think that sums it up.

Can just imagine a customer walking in on you completely tangled in cable.
Tea all over the place.
"Its happened again! Help" :D
