Discuss Pull cord switch - cooker isolation? in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

Al im sorry weve taken the mick a bit please forgive us , its an idea but as some of the reasons have been pointed out especially the one paul made regarding labling i would stick to the normal just my opinion

OK forget the chip pan example and imagine if there was obviously a loose connection in the cooker fizzling and crackling away, or some other nondescript reason why you might want to turn it off in a hurry - surely better to instantly know where to turn it off rather than have to play 'bellringers'?

Do you really believe that if someone fits a switch - of whatever type - he won't know where it is when he needs it? Emergency switch or not, we always switch off when the cooker isn't in use.

Al

aint switched the cooker isolator off in the 5 years i've lived here, (except once when testing). can't abide resetting the clock.

Well my cooker switch is in the cupboard next to it because the missues didnt want to see too many switches and sockets on the work top! And to be honest getting to it is a bit tricky because the cupboard is full of crap. Looking back though i should have put my foot down and insisted having it next to the oven....

as mentioned by Westward a link is the way forward, nothing wrong with that and the pull cord will then be the on off switch.
