hi im fairly new to all of this but have recently gained a qualification with eal, just need to be assessed by nic etc to be fully qualified. Im looking to install power into my dads shed as one of jobs to be assessed. The previous sparky who done the electrics in the extension, put an outside socket on the wall to allow power to go into the shed. what im looking to do is put a small consumer unit in the shed so as power tools and garden lights can be run. Is it possible to use the outside socket to put power to the consumer unit or is there another way? the main board is the other side of the house, so using this socket would be easiest.
Any help would be grateful thanks:)

I see your point Danny and agree it looks tidy, but I think swa will be a squeeze to get in??
I dont think an adaptable box will be massive, just slightly bigger than the IP rated fcu in the photo.

Not that much difference, but down to the individual I guess.
Best regards,
Sav

Have found out today that the circuit in the extension is on its own and currently only has three sockets on it, plus a socket on the outside wall. the shed is only half a metre away from the socket, if that. i only need 2 double sockets in the shed with the ability to run garden lights from this power supply (should only be a couple of lights). the current circuit seems to be 2.5m, if thats any help.

thanks for all the suggestions, it has been really helpful.:)

is it not possible to run a cable from the ccu in the house,on the outside of the property?? put it on it's mcb 20amp-2.5mm2 swa to tha shed into the shed ccu.. as long as there is rcd protection on either the house ccu or the new ccu you will be ok ..

If there is any spare ways on the board the best way would be to ran a complete new circuit from the board in the house to supply the shed Remember as well RCDs will be needed for extra protection if using poewer tools etc
