PV electrical certificate price ?

Hi all. I am a small subcontractor. One of my client asked me about the price for the PV electrical certificate ( just for the AC ) . I had no ideea how much cost and where do i have to find somebody to come and test . Any ideea ?

Shurely AC certificate is just the electrical installation cert plus schedule of tests, inspections etc. If you have Part P certification then you can do a domestic AC cert!

I am a general refurbishment sub. Im not a qualified electrician, but i know about. My client asked me to find somebody to certify his PV installation ( only the AC side, the other part has been done ).

You need a registered electrician, any electrcian more or less can certify the AC side for you, not sure about price, cant see it being much.

I just had a qoute from an approved electrician for 100 quid. sounds ok ?

Why was it not certified by the electrician who installed it as it should of been?

If you can find an electrician to certify work he hasn't done take it, there aren't many around that would.

Presumably they won't be giving you a completion certificate?

it has to be an IEC and schedule of inspections, has it been registered with building control? if not you need to get your spark to sdo that as well.

Surly the electrician will have to test all the DC side of things, and all the relevant tests that are required for a PV system, not just connect up the AC as that would make the system non compliant?

makes you wonder what the rest of his work was like!

An electrician can test & legally certify the AC installation. He needs to have been instructed by the owner/manager of the installation. The DC side does not have to be tested for this. just like when you test a shower or cooker circuit, you dont test the appliance itself.
