I only ask this out of pure interest , not trying to get at anyone or change the world ....Pure interest.
At college nowadays....Do you do practical ie get two switches and two lamp and actually wire them up in a upstairs/downstairs scenario and go thro the diagram of how it works do you actually get out meters and test simple circuits etc.

maybe if they didnt understand it at college they felt they couldnt ask the basic questions because it would sound `silly` to or embarresd
which clearly there is nothing wrong with asking about something you dont understand. when your in a class with 25 lads just a theroy.

Ye Lenny i know it was done in the past but we get some strange q's about the simplest of things!

I hear what you're saying there. I've been reading quite a few posts on here and some of the questions being asked for what is clearly major/notifiable domestic works taking place is very concerning. I've lost count of the number of posts which start with "I've changed a consumer unit......" or "What type of earthing/do I have to earth......" or "Do you think this size cable....." So many questions could be answered by opening up a regs book or carrying out some basic testing but instead they're asked on here.
