Coding all carried out in Mumbai though ... I can't get anyone to answer email at the minute. I've had the demo although it hadn't been finished when I saw it, thought it was ok although I don't know much about the company setting it up. I've been waiting easily for a month for it to kick off, been told next week for quite a while although I do now have the terms and conditions - it's getting to the point when I'm going to need to look at Salesforce and make the adaptations myself. Not sure how much longer I can wait - bit worried about support too, but I do quite like the set up...

From our point of view if we entrust any data to a third party we need to be absolutely sure of two things, integrity and security.

Until recently the REAL Assurance website was a joke, any body could log in to any other installers website, as for everyone they published the Memberhsip ID and if you knew your own password, then you also knew how to get everyone elses.

Big problem - no-one at Real even acknowledged there was a problem depsite being in major breach of the Data Protection Act.

I have been promised a demo for weeks, and it never happened, and for the last 6 weeks they haven't answered my emails either, so when it comes to a critical support moment ...... Who ya gonna call?

Oh... did I upset someone? I think it I need to clear a couple of points here and don't mean to be blunt but best to respond to the points presented...

1. The video runs for 30 mins, and not sure why you cant get past 7 mins? I have said that this is a rough version on the paper clip group
2. QMS is related to the software...for ISO 9001, why would I need to pass it? Does all your suppliers have ISO 9001? I think not. However the software is designed to ISO 9001 and our back end features by default pass that back to us. I think I should also pass the question back, how do you select your suppliers? We don't do warranties, yes we have insurance and that has no bearing on the 50k we have spent on back up and hardware firewalls.
3. Trust.. very emotive subject, but to be precise no one will ever answer the question when integrity is an emotional subject which is more what is meant when asking this question.
4. Look on the web site, our details are there???I don't recall talking to you?
5.Yes we have a support team in place in the UK and NO NO NO not made in India! We have a team in the UK and we use 22 freelance authors worldwide in production that includes the USA and Oz.
6. We have had a tremendous response to this and some people have had demo's lasting on average 2 hours, I have to say that I know emails was sent to advise where we are in delivery, we sent link by email with the video because we was delayed on demo's which is an impossible task based on teh numbers signed up.
7. Yes the product has been live for 3 weeks now with beta testers, however we only get feed back off these guys to ensure that we have it right and this adds delay to general release so that we don't cause overload of complaints. We have taken it to 1 MCS awarding body with the rest planned in the next two weeks. As for sales force, it cant and will not run your MCS... its a sales tool and at ÂŁ85 a month to just authorise discounts.

So in short, really sorry if I have upset anyone and I am more than happy to talk to anyone who feels that we have not made the grade on this occasion. I trust that this satisfies some of the concerns and do hope those on this forum who have a relationship with us can come to our defence!

SRE I will PM you now

Ben

I may just be shooting myself in the foot here and may need to come whimpering back to you someday ( pretty obvious who me are from the forum name we go by ! ) but i got the distinct impression of sarcasm in your post and all directed at what seemed to be legitimate fears , not really the backup people have been asking about is it ?!
We were planning to be in touch on Monday our selfs to probably buy your product but i think not now, and suspect we are not the only ones now !

I have withdrawn my reply, I admit could of been worded better but I felt that my reply was given in the same sprit as the questions, my apologies. I was not demeaning responses just genuine direct replies - this is what I put in my first line.

I don’t believe the questions are invalid or the perceived ligimate fears are not taken seriously. However this is a forum and none of team has spoken to anyone about this direct from the forum and I will be honest, I will respond direct to any question but I don’t feel that me posting responses is the right venue for Pclip to run a business, I liken this to installers posting on consumer forums with methods and pricing.

I simply don’t support a product that is not released generally to all and I accept that we asked those interested to register their interest with an opportunity to have a demo when the product was ready, delayed admitted from some conversations. SRE (I hope you don’t mind using you as example) who saw the product in the early stages will agree that it not the same now. I agree that we have had a few false starts due to programming fixes but we have never taken money or contracts to date from anyone including our beta test group. Some I have spoken with, some I have had email contact with, however we have only supported those only are part of our beta trails. Sure, did we remove our contact number in the early days? Yes this was because we received a great response but like most things in life we never had it right and it was backwards and forwards having bugs fixed and no good news to report. We have to be sure that its right... if it is not then the model suffering confidence damage.

We know it will not be right for everyone and respect that, we even know that we can improve but the video was posted in response to an installer asking for a demo and desperate to make a business decision. We was honest about this and we purely was not able to allocate the time knowing that screens and processes may change and it would need to be done again. We intend to run 1 day training events (subject to min numbers) at various locations and these will be free, all you need to find is your lunch, travel and time. We will show venues on the website.

I have to be careful not to advertise here, but the viral sales animal was faster than the programmers could tap and change! I will get the guys to put a FAQ page on our site today the listing most points we have acknowledged and some questions asked to date. You can PM me or call me if you prefer. There is no arrogance here, a firm passion for what we do and 12 months of hard slog development with huggins of investment to get here.

Hi Ben ,

Fair enough !
As grandfortune has said not a bad come back , it was late and it is all too easy to post in haste !
It will be very interesting to see how your product develops , as i am sure you realise by now that most sparks could do with less not more paper pushing !
Still not whimpering yet , but let's wait and see ! :blush5:

SRE (I hope you don’t mind using you as example) who saw the product in the early stages will agree that it not the same now.

Ben, no problems using us as an example - and I can confirm that it's looking better than it did originally (not that there was anything wrong with that) I suspect you're in a similar position to us - exponential growth and no method of dealing with it because you didn't quite expect it to be so successful. We all know what the investment situation is because we've all been there.

Realistically, how far away are we from launch? That would help a lot of us.

I'm worried about not conforming and can see that your stuff will help organise everything making it less onerous. There are other options out there, loads of them, but nothing I've seen is a simple and applicable as this and that's what I've been trying to weigh up. I have the difficult decision about re-writing my QMS now (which it really needs to be truly applicable to our situation) or wait for your software which will help but while we're waiting the workload is growing every day.

We are currently evaluating two alternatives, one of which is built on the salesforce platform, and indeed it looks very good.

More than one of us here has an IT background, so we understand development platforms, environments and technologies, and salesforce does offer a very good development backend and platform to deliver this, without the need to invest in firewalls, and backup hardware.

As I understood it from our conversations (yes we have spoken - you called me) you were looking at charging ÂŁ100 / month / user is that still the same? That is certainly comparable to what we have been quoted for the salesforce based solution.

So we need to decided which way to go, and I am offering you an olive branch to build trust.

Perhaps you could answer the questions that I asked on the phone, and you promised to send to me in an email, and I am sure are the ones that most people would ask before they entrusted their business assetts to any third party.

Can we please see the SLA and licencing agreement that you are offering?
Can you give us a full spec of the backup service with response times to different levels?
What are the penalties for not achieving those?
What are your data security gaurantees?
What are the backup procedures?
What happens to the source code if you cease trading?
What escrow arrangements are there?
Can we download our data as a backup to our own systems?
In what format - xml, sql, csv?
Are you as a company ISO 9001 certified?

There are a range of other things that we will also need answering, for example we will need to see three years of trading accounts, but maybe that is peculiar to our way of doing business.

Hello,

I am a bit lat on this thread but we have an established quality management system for MCS installers which also includes a sap calculation software. We have quite a lot of experience in this area as we provide something similar to architects for compliance with CDM regulations. You can find out more information on our website.

Regards
Paul
