I was looking at the picture of the tool (same as above) and it only covers from 1 - 16mm, I guess the pictures is wrong.

Pleased about that I will get it ordered.

Thank you
zoom in a little, it doesnt show the numbers for the two smaller sizes but the holes are there

i've got this one for when my teeth are aching. haupa. 0.5mm - 16mm.

Are the Knipex and Haupa ones pictured in this thread any good for copper lugs, or just really suitable for ferrule ends ? I'm looking for a more compact tool for lugging onto earthing and bonding cables up to 16mm and these look as if they might do.

no, ive tried it with through crimps and they split them.

what are you using at the moment?

For copper tube lugs you really want something with mechanical advantage/leverage.

Have you tried them on .25?, I do a fair bit on .25/.34 and find some crimpers don't live up to the specs and give me a loose ferrule I can pull the wire out.
sorry i havent tried it on .25 but i havent had a loose one yet (if you need to the very ends are pliers so could always give them a squeeze)

we tend to use 0.75 minimum upto 6mm depending on the length of run

nah these kind are better, they do 10-300mm and easy to use

a guy that used to work for us had a set and they are great

(not this brand but looks very similar)

Cheers Shanky but I'm just after something small for my domestic work.. those are a bit overkill. I have used those hydraulic type before and they are amazing, the set I used cost a fair bit more than that though.

Cheers Tel, those look the business and cheap too. They are a hex crimp die right ?

I've been stuck with one of these type for ages and they are a right pain to use for lugs so small. Very inexact and not really a suitable die shape.

we use the same set for cables when these are too small

the ones my mate used cost him £50 new on ebay

there really cheap, everyone should own a set

Shanky,

I tried a Silverline crimper today with red handles, I cant say I was impressed, it did not crimp very well and only crimped one way. Do they sell different models?
the ones i had were blue handled.

The majority of Silverline "tools" are cheaply manufactured crap IMO. I would not buy any of there products again personally.

Check the clearance between the back panel and/or terminal cover that you've removed. Look for small burn marks.

Absolutely correct they hold water, shrouds are totally unnecessary. 20s is 24mm spanner, 20 large is 30mm spanner.
