Is there anyway I can test an installation without an RCD so I can be sure when I changethe board the RCD will trip in time? Or calculation, such as V/R eg 230/Zs.????

Yes come on Jonesy, you may just get it resolved if you ask your question again.

I've obviously worded this wrong but never mind. Thanks for all the help.
You could test every circuit connected to the distribution board 10 times over, you could do every dead test and every live test known to the trade, however there is no way anyone could know if the trip would operate until it is energised and tested, it is possible it may come from the box faulty? so the answer is no, no amount of tests can confirm correct operation of an RCD before it is energised.

Welcome back Mike

Oh right i misunderstood, i thought he was asking if u could test to see if new rcd would hold with existing wiring. (N-E faults or L-E faults with high enough impedance) Like someone said though u cant be sure until it is in and switched on.

But IR gives you a damn good idea if it's gonna hold or not.

You can confirm the circuits are in good shape with IR testing yes, but who knows what will be connected to those circuits, several dodgy appliances for starters, ever heard of a collective earth fault?

All very funny ;/ I already did an IR TEST I was just wanted to know if, you could test, let's say the Ze and that would give you a better idea that the RCD would (most likely)operate or I (most likely) wouldn't I've been to a house to test and it didn't operate so I upgraded there earthing which got it going. I know the only real way is to just go ahead with it a find out. But all very funny.

No there is not as the tripping time is a function of the unit itself, the installation conditions will not affect the tripping time.
