RCD testing the new wylex RCBOs

Hi Guys,

Has anyone had the pleasure of testing the new wylex rcbo's? Im subbying at the mo for a big firm doing rewires for a big housing association. They use wylex rcbo's for every circuit, around 8 circuits per house and I'm contracted to test all 120 houses ( around 10 a week ). The only prob I've found with these new rcbo's is when doing an rcd auto trip test using the megger mft 1552 the test lead does not fit in the hole where you would tighten the line conductor up. The only way around this is to fit use a single choc bloc and attach about an inch of 6mm cable to one end then when I need to do the test I just slot this over the end of my test lead and tighten slightly ( not to damage the test lead ). This does work fine but what would the HSE say if he/she came round and saw me doing this? I have wrapped the choc bloc in insulation tape so you can touch it when insurted in the rcbo but still it do'nt look good. What do you guys think? And have you come accros this before?

The 1553 comes with an additional plug in probe with 3 different end attachments and will get in to any terminal it even has a light on it. See this picture in link.

Don't test at the RCBO but at a point on the circuit, thats what i would do if faced with the same prob

My 1552 came complete with the probe. I always test the RCBO at a point on the circuit as this would be more like a real fault, on radials I always test at the furthest point. Maybe it makes no difference but it's just the way I have always tested RCD's & RCBO's.

I always tend to test at a sockets, less faffing around.

I always test at the highest Zs point in the circuit. The kit is already connected all I do is flick the switch to RCD, auto test and stand at the CU resetting each time.
