I can cut a hole in the wood boad maybe. Thank you I will make it accessible

I still don't think thats acceptable unless you make it big enough to be able to use spanners to check the tightness of the SWA gland

I would have run the SWA up to the bottom of the CU and glanded it directly to it - less parts, accessible .

Rear entry, no problem, done it many times, also side entry. The top and bottom gland plates run out of room very fast . Does the building not have any steelwork to bond ?

There is no issue with the wooden board and there is no issue with a rear entry tho. It all conforms to BS7671

I didn't question the rear entry, just the large size of it and the combustible material it's sat on. Potential fire containment is surely a consideration when choosing installation methods regardless of whether it's acceptable in BS7671?

Sorry to be nitpicking - just trying to help. The swa that's concealed behind the wooden board - as the armour has been removed it now needs RCD protection (?).

Hi,

Is it OK to create a rear entry in an eight way three phase BD.

Please see photo attached.

A technician friend of mine says he has never seen this done before?

There is no issue with creating an entry as you describe. Although I do think it could be done a bit better than the way it has been done in the photo.

To be constructive, a much better solution would be to

A) use the 3phase meter kit that Wylex make for this board that fits neatly inside utilizing the front bottom left knockout for the screen.

B) gland that armoured straight into the bottom.

C) If you wish cables to enter the rear a id drill a few 50mm holes rather than 1 huge one as sealing up is going to be untidy, you dont want a mouse in there!, i recently fitted one of these boards and went for rear entry for the swa incomer, but i could walk down an access behind the board so glanded in the rear properly

I wouldn’t really worry about the back board being flammable, it’s probably less so than the plastic DB.
Not sure what the small CSA conductors are for?

I would have brought the cables into a bit of 100x100 trunking below the DB, removed the plate at the bottom of the board and taken the cables up through a slot in the top of the trunking protected by a bit of paxolin or even rubber edging, maybe even grommet strip
I'd have glanded the SWA into the bottom of the trunking.
