Re: R ecommend LED GU10 Led bulbs?

The Philips ones are good, failing that Lightrabbit they do them, the 60 SMD in warn white are good, I can get them for about ÂŁ3.50 from them.

Which Phillips?, there are quite a few of them

Also the ones on Lightrabbit look very similar to the ones on LedHut, were they made by the same company?

Just want to bounce this as I have a job coming up in an apartment, I call it an apartment as its a bit more upmarket from a flat. They have over 50 MR16 down lights they want swapping for GU10 LEDs. I can get the GU10 fly leads pretty cheap and jb's but obviously I don't want to put sh*t bulbs in there that are going to fail within a few months.

There is so much choice out there fo GU10's now, in the past I have used the cheaper ones in smaller installs and TBH haven't really had many problems with them. But with the number of bulbs in this place it is going to get magnified if they start failing in a few months and won't look too good. I have seen in other threads that Megaman are meant to be quite good but also somebody had problems with them, also I think someone mention Ecostar as being good. But I can't work out from their website whether they sell bulbs or just fittings? Anyone got any good recommendations?

enlite from toolstation, fitted around 40 on various jobs, no problems so far.
Enlite LED 5W Dimmable GU10 Lamp Warm White 500lm A+ -
got those in my kitchen,
LED 9W COB Lamp GU10 Cool White 550lm A - Toolstation
9 watts, very bright, they been on for around a year, all still work, but they bigger than standard gu10 may not fit in fire-rated spots.

for conversion from MR16 im getting gu10 sockets with leads from cpc. good quality ones.

lap from screwfix are crap, stay away, buzzing on a dimmer a lot.

Definitely steer clear of bargain price GU10s - very hit and miss. Some make a very nice bang when they fail as well, which is often at first power up! Daz

Are the existing fittings fire rated?

You'd think so, but I find plenty of people who just don't get it. My own in-laws for one. Saves on the oil heating bill in winter, I suppose.
