Recommendations for a decent sds

After a decent sds for drilling core holes, gone through a fair few recently and need something a bit more manly!

Why not get a drill that's sold for the purpose? I use a Marcrist DDM1.

Id get a proper core cutting drill, ours is a Makita one, not sure how the clutch would work on a normal SDS as opposed to a core cutter if it snaps back at you!!

I use an old Milwaukee core drill.

Safety clutch must have come in the later models.

It munches through anything.

Great bit of kit for the price, the only down side is that if the walls are damp the safety clutch does cut in (when i feel i could hold it)

I have an old metabo core drill with the same problem . I don't dare use the thing

I use a Makita too. You do need the clutch for damp walls.

For occasional use, I would stick with my Battery Drill.
For regular use, I would either go for cheap as chips and just replace when burnt out, or top of the range Hilti.

This is my choice. I core holes very infrequently so use a £45 B&Q all purpose SDS.

Of course the thing is how long does it take you to get through an average 10 inch brick wall? Takes about 25 mins with my set up. i.e. Makita. I did a 24 inch ayr stone wall and brick. Five hours down low gave up for the day. Next morning all fresh got through in 3 seconds, there was only a few millimetres left, doh!

25 mins is slow, but then it's not a race. You'll wreck your sds drill coring out holes imho, it's just not built for the job at all.
