Redoing a shower room, should anything be checked? Timer for heated towel rail?

Re towel rail.......plumb it off the hot water system, therefore giving you heat all year round.
The electrics involved:-
1) A dedicated switch outside the shower room (fused) to turn the shower's main power on/off.
Where is the fuse? Is it within the switch? If so, it will not be suitable for an instantaneous electric shower.

The central heating? But over summer it will hardly come on? If there was an electric option where a timer (tucked away) could turn it on 30-40mins morning and night... Perfect!

The switch has an integrated fuse. You turn the switch on and then power is available to the shower, which you can then go to and press its on button. Once you've finished your shower, and turned it off, you can go to the power switch in question (outside the shower room) and turn it off.

There is no reason why you couldn't leave the switch in question on all the time. It's just that's it's next to the light switch to the shower room so we tend to turn them both on/off together.

Again re towel rail. Plumb it off the hot water side only of your heating system. Most heating systems have a separate hot water system only and a heating system only. Both heating & hot water work during Winter. Hot water works during summer only.

Ahhh! You're suggesting plumbing into the circuit that heats the hot water!!!! I'm with you! Come to think of it, this is how the towel rail in the bathroom works! Can't believe I didn't remember this!

It may be a problem, as the shower room in question is the other side/end of the house so getting the plumbing plumbed in might be fun!


Size of electric shower? Not sure what you mean by that... It's an Aquiss Digital processor+pump?!

I think everyone missed the point, your shower is not an electric shower which is instantaneous, around 8-10kW, yours is main fed, hot and cold water with a pump, so your switched fused connection unit outside shower supplies power to the pump.

No it's not electrically heated. It's mains fed like you say with a pump (which will be moved up into the loft)... Didn't think to clarify this so possibly my mistake...
