ok guys thanks for youyr advice, spoke to the spark again, and hes happy to sign it off with what hes done with no alterations needed

i highlighted the concerns from customer about if the oven caught fire etc how would they turn it off and the spark said the rcd would trip and the fuses would blow anyway if there was a fire

i can see 2 sides tot his story if there was amajor oven fire in my home the last thing i would be doing would touching electrics to turn it off i would be calling the fire brigade and getting my family out the house lol

but i can also see the justification for safety measures

cheers guys for your time

and by the way yes i agree with both of you,i also beleive hes done the minimum to get the job done and will not be using him again

thanks guys

Well, in the case of a fire, of any magnitude, he's probably right, but there is the maintenance aspect too if a fault develops.

Sad to hear of guys like this, especially in these times too, when the extra mile is all the more important.

Kilty - where are you based - it may be that one of our "premier" sparks, friendly bunch we are, may be able to help you out next time, with a decent job, at a good rate - forum networking, so to speak. Just a thought!

You're welcome to the advice in any case mate - good to know people are bothered enough to ask the way you have!

Hope you have a great and prosperous new year too!

17th ed:- 132.12 (ii) and also 513.1 "to facilitate its operation, inspection and maintenance and access to each connection. Such facility shall not be significantly impaired by mounting equipment in an enclosure or compartment." So I believe this means putting the switch behind the cooker is not an option but it still leaves this matter open to translation. (i wouldn't)
