Remedial works on A.N Others EICR

Hi to all.

Not been on for a while due work and Dad being ill etc , so have a quick querie

Actually its one i have not encountered before .
I have a 2391 and have alweays done my own remedials following a PIR now known as a EICR


If i take on the remedials from another that carried out the origonal test .Do i have to issue a new EICR complete or what certification needs issuing please .

I'd hazard a guess that you won't issue an EICR unless requested (and paid appropriately) to issue one. You should complete an EIC or MIWC depending on what the remedials are.

You should issue a minor works cert or installation cert as is normal and appropriate to the work you carry out, and inform the client to keep them with the EICR for reference.

If they want to pay you to conduct a whole new EICR then that's their business. Alternatively they could take your remedial works certs to the person who carried out the EICR and see if they will re-issue it with the alterations. Neither of these actions would be necessary though.

Mostly code 3 with some 2.nothing to drastic or major tbh.All were rectified and no circuits altered other than faulty RCBOs . replacement sockets etc.

I think that sort of stuff comes under a MIWC, even the RCBO if it's a like-for-like replacement. However, might be easier issuing an EIC if you've had to do work on several circuits.

As above Issue a minor work for each item of remedial work you carry out or an installation cert if there are a lot of remedial works, or in some cases you could just supply a covering letter explaining what work you have carried out if its just small repairs such as fixings or blanks missing from equipment

Just seen your post Yes fill a minor works for the RCBO change and another for the socket replacements ( if the sockets that you changed are on the same circuit as the RCBO you could get away with one minor works in my opinion

Also, Elecsa offer a Minor Works form that has scope for up to three circuits - perhaps this can be adapted for use?

I would be making sure he has not missed anything , even if you are only remedying his report .
You still have to make sure the circuits you work on are fit for purpose.

reference the EICR number on your certs to show you've done the remedials for that report.

I'm in a similar situation, doing remedials from someone else's EICR. However insurance company (thatched property) will not accept an Unstatisfactory report with proof of remedials on all Cat1 and Cat2 and presence of some CAT 3 that haven't been addressed.

Thanks for all the input . as ever its all most helpful.Think ill settle for MWC for any alterations to circuits and an adjoining letter for the other items.There was another company that replaced the distribution boards in the church etc, and extended all the cables on one board but had messed a few things up. Legs of rings mixed up . Open circuits on continuity that were 2 radails in two different places in the premises. I wonder if it was actually tested when they done it at all.
