Hi Guys,

As part of a big ongoing job, have been asked to disconnect a fire alarm call point.
I did so but am having doubts as to if there is more involved than I originally thought.
There were two FP's 4 core feeding the point. 2 x reds connected to a terminal, 2 x blacks connected to the other terminal, 2 x yellows joined in a connector & 2 x blue's connected in a connecter.
12v present.
I disconnected and connected together in a surface box temp. Is this ok? Does it have to be in a galv box? Are resistors needed?

I think I'll tell them to get a fire guy back in!

Any help appreciated

I would get the fire alarm people i as well. You dont want one of these things going pete tong. I only mess with fire alarms that i have installed. There are a few alarm lads in here, keep an eye on your post you will get some good replies.

Cheers.......Howard

Hi sorry to reply late.
You need to box up joints in galv fitting or metal adaptable box to keep integrity.
All joints must be crimped, not block connected.
Using 4 core sounds like original installer has used red/black for detection and yellow/blue for sounder circuit. If you are just jointing out no resistors are required, resistors only required at last device (end of Line)
