Replacing a cooker switch with a double socket

As you can see from the attachment the cooker switch has its own circuit from the CU, a socket has also been spured off from the cooker switch. the kitchen fitter wants the cooker switch removed along with the single socket on the left of the picture and replaced with a double socket below it marked in pencil to power the single oven, The single socket to the right with its face still attached is going to be directly behind the new oven, the fitter has not marked it in pencil to remove like he has with the other socket and switch. Im concerned why the kitchen fitter wants a double socket there when the only appliance connected will be the single oven? why cant I just fit a singel socket? Im in 2 minds wether to connect a single Image073.jpg 6mm cable from the CU and connect a single socket or shall I connect the single socket to the ring. Any suggestions?

as the work required falls foul of part pee, then it's advisable to get a professional sparks in to do the necessary. or you'll find yourself paying LABC more in fees than a spark will charge.
