how do, wondered if any one could help, a friend asked me to replace a cracked single plug socket, when i took of the socket there was 2 x 2.5mm and a 3 core & earth cable used to spur off to sockets in kitchen, my friend has said the power trips quite often, will this be because of the 3 core & earth cable?
thanks

thanks for reply, the cable is 3 core & earth,(two way switch cable) old type red yellow blue with unsleaved earth, 3 double sockets off this spur (which i dont think is right, is a spur only allowed to go to one socket? unless on a fused spur?) and is seperate from kitchen circuit
thanks

How was it actually wired then, I take it one of the conductors were just terminated either end?

You are correct 1 socket per spur unless it has an FCU protecting it. You say its seperate from kitchen circuit but the 3 sockets supply the kitchen? What appliances has he got connected to these 3 sockets?

This cable will be at max 1.5mm so it should be fused down via a FCU anyway.

If at all possible i would rewire.

hi, 3 core & E, red to line blue to neutral yellow to earth, the unsleaved eath has been cut off, and is spured from a living room socket, they have toaster, kettle, fridge, freezzer, tumble dryer and phone charger.

All from that spur:eek: with no FCU?!?!? As Notsosmart has mentioned, what is the size of the cable?

I'd really recomment that circuit be looked at further! No wonder it's tripping....;)

Sounds like your mate needs a definite rewire mate and they're running all that stuff off a 1.5mm:eek:Is the cable still in one piece

If it was a Man U supporter,i'd say it was fine:D

:D:eek::D

Why worry about copper (its expensive) there are loads of excess ManU fans about, get them to hold hands & one holds onto the main incommer the other end holds a kettle; hey presto boiled water:eek::rolleyes::D:eek:.

A fully mobile wiring system has been invented. :cool:

( Hey I'm not a monster, I would let the one holding the mains stand on a piece of paper to insulate him)A5 sheet! (paper is also expensive you know):D
