replacing plug socket

how do, wondered if any one could help, a friend asked me to replace a cracked single plug socket, when i took of the socket there was 2 x 2.5mm and a 3 core & earth cable used to spur off to sockets in kitchen, my friend has said the power trips quite often, will this be because of the 3 core & earth cable?

Kitchen sockets should be on their own circuit! How many sockets does this spur feed? Are you sure it's 3 core AND earth?

Thats fine, I know its good practice, also good practice to put a utility room on its own circuit but that sounded as though there were regs being contravened

I would have said the kitchen circuit MUST be on it's own circuit if I meant it to be according to regs
