Yeh i know

Hmmmmmmmmmm am only asking if it will be safe for now as i know next week i will be doing it as im going to wire his garrage up etc.

Just need info

If you are dead set on helping him out then, I'd split the "ring" so as to have an equal number of sockets on each leg and put two 10A radials in.:)

Highly unethical and prone to MCB's operating but "safe":D

How did you arrive at that conclusion then Stuey???, only asking because my thoughts all end up at a 20A...:)

1.5 will handle 20A in ideal installation conditions. Ring it and you can pull 40A, so in it's present condition it is safe. The worst thing you could do is split it IMO.

I personally would insist on rewire or walk away tho.

stuey gonna do me a fav n phone IET with your calculations so they can rewrite the regs Id love to hear their reaction to a 40a ring on 1.5
