Ring circuit testing

What would you do?

Scenario

Double switched socket is faulty, just requires a replacement,

Carry out essential tests first,
ze
Ipfc
Earth continuity and bonding
etc

IR tests
Do you remove leads from disconnected mcb to allow IR test,
do you just do lives to earth or do you go around, remove all items from ring circuit and leve all switches on, checking for any obvious spurs or fcu,s etc then do live to earth, live to neutral, live to neutral.
I have had funny readings sometimes with lives to earth giving around 10MOhms readings, sometimes, surge protectors giving these readings, so it is a pain for me as well as client to hunt around the ring to find and remove all possible devices, as this increases the time taken for a simple socket replacement.

Take old one off, fit new one, check Zs. Raise invoice noting Zs on invoice

agreed , i'd be skipping the whole IR test thing for a 2min repair lol

No way, unless it was commercial or a rental property.

There's enough paperwork with this job without creating more. The schemes recommend we do, but they can provide me with a secretery if they want that much paperwork.

When this is job the home owner can legally do himself.
Why would you carry out any test and how would you justify the extra cost for your time and paperwork.

No paperwork but always do a Zs and polarity. Gives me some peace of mind. That's the difference in us and DIYers, we know its right, they hope it's right.
